Welcome TO THE SLOAP DATABASE
Introduction

Assessment at Bunker Hill Community College
The Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Project (SLOAP) at Bunker Hill Community College is a faculty-driven assessment initiative. The SLOAP Taskforce, composed of representatives from each academic department, oversees the work of this initiative.
SLOAP embeds assessment in the teaching and learning process by focusing on how effectively students achieve individual course and program learning outcomes. At the heart of the SLOAP initiative is a conceptual assessment framework that provides an institutional model for all SLOAP projects. This framework articulates the logical process behind effective assessment, moving sequentially through steps for assessing programs and courses to steps for using assessment information to effect meaningful change in instruction and curriculum. Each academic department has constructed a two-year plan for moving the department through the steps of the SLOAP framework.
The SLOAP Database
The SLOAP database also flows from the SLOAP assessment framework. All departmental strategic plans, as well as all data from SLOAP projects, are filed in this database. This allows faculty to share assessment data across departments, promoting cross-germination of ideas. Faculty can also run reports on material in the database. Since the database provides access to an inventory of department, program, and course materials, the College can use the database to take periodic snapshots of the state of its assessment effort and to identify logical next steps.
Public Disclosure
Available on the internet, the SLOAP database is a vehicle for providing public disclosure about the degree to which BHCC students achieve published learning outcomes.
Please Note:
The information in this database represents an ongoing effort to assess and improve programs and courses at BHCC. As such, the information should not be used to evaluate programs, courses, or individual faculty. If this information is used in any evaluative process, the MCCC should be notified.
